FLASH FORWARD
26th February 2010
The Lighting XL has always been a cracking rifle, but BSA in the past did tend to use quite bland stock designs. Athough some hail the Lightning XL Tactical synthetic stock as being the ultimate for ergonomics and balance, if however you prefer timber, then definately they have the right approach with this new design.
Now the Lightning XL has been given the option of a hand-oiled, attractive piece of grade one walnut, yet still only weighs 6.7lbs (without a scope). The butt section is now ambidextrous, and a thick, ventilated black rubber butt pad takes care of the shoulder fit. The forend has also been altered slightly and now curves attractively inwards and ends in a rounded tip. The Lightning XL has retained the rubber cushioned 'maxi grip' rail - not that its needed for recoil! A nice touch is the ready fitted sling swivel points, which are located on the underside of the butt section and in the metalwork of the silencer's shroud.
The BSA Lightning is possibly one the the UK's most popular spring powered carbines and now has the looks that its performance diserves - a looker as well as a shooter!
